How you found us

When you sign up we record how you got here — any campaign tags in the link you clicked, the site that referred you, the page you landed on, which browser you're using, and your country. We use it to tell which of our own efforts actually work.

Your country is worked out from your IP address at that moment; the address itself isn't saved to your account. None of this is sold or shared, and it's deleted with your account.

Analytics

We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand how this site is used. Not sold, not shared. We measure every visitor, whether or not you accept analytics cookies — but not in the same way.

Without your acceptance, nothing is stored on your device and no identifier persists between visits; your IP address is used to derive your city and country and is then discarded rather than stored. Accepting adds returning-visitor recognition, a link to your account if you sign up, and session recording — with form inputs never captured and any domain you check with our free tools masked out of the recording. If you accept, the domain you check with a free tool is saved with that visit, so we can tell which checks lead people to sign up.

Inside the CompetLab app, analytics runs on every page, including before you sign in, without a separate cookie banner. Before you sign in, usage is measured without a persistent identifier — no analytics identifier is stored on your device. After you sign in, usage is keyed to your account. Some events are reported by our servers rather than by your browser. No session recording runs in the app. Our legal basis is legitimate interest in providing and improving the service.

Legal basis: signup attribution and anonymous cookieless analytics — legitimate interest in understanding how our own service is found and used. On the marketing site, session recording and any cross-visit identification run on consent.

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:
